Paper Frank
18m
Interviews like this are one of the luxuries in documentary filmmaking. Paper Frank is currently one of the most in demand visual artists of this generation. He has steadily built a cult following for himself ranging from the hipster teen folding clothes at Urban Outfitters to celebs like Chris Brown and Erykah Badu.
But in this clip, he was still just Frank, who had just finished his apprenticeship with Miya Bailey, visiting his small hometown of Asheville and catching a few jokes from people he grew up with. This interview was shot in 2011, so while not that old, so much has changed for Frank that it makes it seem like ages ago. He finally grew facial hair, put on some grown man weight and then the whole career thing, thats a big deal!
Frank is representative of what this culture needs and that is people who are willing to put in the work to be the best. You can't gain success without talent and drive, although young, Frank clearly has loads of both.
